Sandown Weather - About Us

About This Station

The station is powered by an Oregon Scientific WMR200 weather station. The data is collected every 60 seconds and the site is updated every minute. This site and its data is collected using Weather Display Software. The station is comprised of an anemometer, a rain gauge and a thermo-hydro sensor situated in optimal positions for highest accuracy possible.

About This City

Sandown was incorporated on April 6, 1756 as it separated from Kingstown (now Kingston). Sandown took it's name from Sandown on the Isle of Wight in England.

Originally a farming community, the people of Sandown put the waters of the Exeter River to work. Small family run mills were built in several river locations though the town. Little is know about many of these mills as they were quite small and operated for a very short time.
